To avoid having to attend, he suddenly decides to accept a variety of literary engagements he's been putting off for years. This coming of age story is about two Mexican-American 15 year-old boys, Aristotle (Ari) and Dante. The boys could not be more different from each other but become quickly close friends one summer. Together, they deal with issues of identity, family, and much more. When Dante falls in love with Ari, things become more complicated. A moving story that can appeal to teens or adults. Recommend for grades 9 and up.

When the puppy breaks free from its owners, readers are led on an amusing romp through the parade and a colorful cast of characters. The illustrations add to the story and contain a highly diverse set of characters. Recommended for ages 3-6.
